Terms of Service
Last Updated: November 27, 2025
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, purchasing credits, or using AskLexi ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you represent a law firm or entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity.
2. Not Legal Advice (Critical)
Disclaimer
AskLexi is an AI-powered research tool, not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, representation, or counsel. The summaries, insights, and answers provided by "Lexi" (our AI assistant) are generated using Large Language Models and may contain errors, hallucinations, or outdated information.
You should verify all citations against the official court record before using them in legal filings.
3. Service Description & PACER Data
AskLexi provides an interface to search, retrieve, and summarize United States Federal Court records. By using our "Live Search" feature, you authorize us to retrieve documents from PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records) on your behalf.
- Public Records: The documents we retrieve are public records. We do not own them, nor do we claim copyright over the text of court opinions.
- Caching: To reduce costs, we may serve you a "Cached" version of a docket if it was recently fetched by another user.
4. Credits & Billing
- Purchase: Credits are purchased in advance.
- Consumption: Credits are deducted based on the action (e.g., 1 Credit per page retrieved).
- Non-Refundable: All Credit purchases are final and non-refundable, except where required by law.
- Expiration: Credits do not expire as long as your account remains active for 12 months.
5. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use AskLexi to scrape data systematically without our API license.
- Share your account credentials with multiple people (unless on a Team plan).
- Use the service for any illegal purpose or to harass parties listed in court records.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AskLexi shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of the service.
